Not all portraits are created the same. My work falls within the realism style of portraiture, which requires significantly more time, layering, and detail than looser or more impressionistic painting styles. Depending on the size and complexity of the piece, a single portrait may require anywhere from 20 to 80+ hours to complete. ​

Every portrait is painted entirely by hand and built through multiple layers to achieve accurate fur texture, lifelike texture, lifelike eyes, realistic lighting, and the subtle details that bring the subject to life. ​
​
My goal is not to simply create a likeness, but to create a portrait that captures the personality, expression, and presence of the subject in a way that a photograph never could.
